Origins of the Race:

The original Run in the Name of Love was held in Charlottesville, VA, a benefit race memorializing an outstanding young man from Carmel, Brian James Love.  Brian was a scholar, athlete, musician, and leader.  He was captain of the University of Virginia’s snowboarding team.  One afternoon during practice, he had hit a tree and died instantly.  With determination, his mother, Susan, decided to move “her son’s race” to the area in which he was born, raised, and made such impact.  Her vision is now a reality.

Significantly, Run in the Name of Love is expanding in scope.  All runners will be encouraged to “Run in the Name” of someone they love, either as a memorial to a loved one or as a tribute to someone who is loved in life.
