Many thanks to all of the runners and walkers who wrote in with their appreciation for Run in the Name of Love. Following are words written by some of the participants:
What a wonderful race this was!! I have participated in many inaugural races, and this has to be one of the most organized first races around! The route was perfect; the volunteers were terrific; the goodie bags were filled to the brim with good stuff to eat, instead of the usual invitation flyers to other races and a tube of lip balm!! You nailed it sister!! Can’t wait for next year.
Anita and I wanted to say how very impressed we were with the event. It was fantastic! I introduced myself, briefly, to you after the race. Being an avid runner, over 640 road races in 16 states, I can state with certainty “your event was off-the charts.” I loved being part of this great event/cause and wish for you and your group continued success. Maybe someday I will be able to be a part again. Thanks for all that you do.
Thanks for the beautiful course and all the fun! I couldn’t think of a better course. How lucky we are! Looking down on us, I’m sure our missed loved ones had a front row seat!
Thank you for this beautiful way to honor those you have lost. I ran in honor of my beautiful daughter Andrea Renee Hernandez. She was killed in a car accident on March 28; she was 18 years old. It helps me when I can do things to celebrate her life. She enjoyed running with me and we were planning on doing a run together. So every time I plan a run she will always be in my heart running with her mommy. This will be a run I will do every year in honor of her ALWAYS. ALWAYS ANDREA’S MOM
Thank you! I’m glad that I can help in supporting. I enjoyed the run and the scenery was beautiful! It was perfect weather for a run! I had a blast! Looking forward to doing it again next year! God bless you.
Wow!! Congratulations!! You made so many people really happy and that was the best Father’s Day I ever had. Thank you! What a success. My daughter, dog and myself enjoyed every part of your event from “Start to Finish!” I had the opportunity to talk to some people that entered Run in the Name of Love. Many were just visiting or on vacation and had such a great time at your race that they said they were going to come back to Carmel each year to participate again! Thank you for an amazing day!
It was my family’s second run ever. We did our first 5K run last month. We ran in honor of my brother who died of Acute Myelogenous Leukemia 10 years ago at the age of 31. It was a good way for my 15 year old daughter to remember her uncle. It was a lovely course, lovely weather, and lovely participants, dogs included. You and your team did an excellent job! And we look forward to next year’s race!
Congratulations on a fabulous and successful race yesterday. Thank you for all the work you put into making the day wonderful and for giving people a beautiful, healthy and fun way to pay tribute to loved ones. You should be extremely proud! That was a great article in the Herald this morning, too.
Our daughter goes to CSUMB and she wanted to be with her “Daddy” and asked us to come down and do this run with her…we were ever so pleased she asked us. Your run/walk was bittersweet, as my folks died within 9 months of each other only this last year, so I missed my dearest Dad, but I felt really good to be honoring them doing this event. Thank you for the opportunity! Thanks again for a most memorable Father’s Day.
Anita and Steve Huster
Like the Herald mentioned, I said it was just as beautiful and the Big Sur Marathon. You will grow in the # of entries as people talk about how well organized it was. Thank you for bringing this event to Brian’s hometown. I will start running again and will definitely do this race, this time w/my brothers and sister next year. They all live out of town but will come to honor our father.
Thank you for a terrific event and for providing such a wonderful and unique opportunity for so many to honor a loved one – this is my favorite 5K event ever! I’m looking forward to next year!
I would love to support you in any way because I hope that you will be able to continue with this event for years and years. It is my goal that Kevin and I spend every year in Carmel participating and walking with our dogs in honor of our Gandma Muth who we miss and love with all our hearts. Your son’s memory will inspire so many others in appreciating loved ones and cherishing the memories of those who are not with us.
