Race Weekend Instructions

We are looking forward to welcoming you Sunday, June 18th, 2017. Here are a few last minute notes for the event.

• If possible, please pick up your shirt and bib on Saturday at Sunset Center in the Chapman Room between noon and 4:00 pm. Signs will direct you. Bring your friends along; they may register at this time or on race morning. Sunset Center is located on San Carlos Street at 9th Avenue in Carmel-by-the-Sea.

• We will have outstanding items available at a Silent Auction. Look for the table at Saturday’s packet pick-up or near the announcer’s platform in the Start area on Sunday. The items can be previewed here. Winners will be announced prior to 8:00 am on race day. Winners can pick up and pay for their items between 11:00 and 11:30 am after the race at Sunset Center if unable to do so before the start. (Auction items are not taken to and cannot be paid for in the finish area.)

• On Saturday, you will have the opportunity to purchase a Tribute Bib to honor the one for whom you are running or walking for just $3.00! Dog shirts will also be available for $16.00. Raffle items and silent auction items will be on display. You will receive a free raffle ticket when you finish your 5K or 2K event although you can purchase additional raffle tickets at packet pick-up and race morning at Sunset Center.

• On Sunday morning, shirt & bib pick-up is in the courtyard of Sunset Center between 7:00 and 8:00 am. Plan to arrive in plenty of time on race morning. The silent auction will continue until 7:45 am. The start-line festivities will begin at 8:00 am followed by the 2K start at 8:20 am and the 5K start at 8:30 am. If you are walking with your four-legged friend(s), pick up your free bandana, compliments of Pet Specialists. You may also purchase Tribute Bibs and dog shirts in the courtyard.

• There will be gear check available near the start line in the Sunset Center for those who would like their warm-up clothes and personal items transported to the finish line. Bring your own bag. We are not responsible for lost items. Pick up your bag in the marked location in the finish area parking lot.

• Parking will be available in the parking lot north of Sunset Center as well as on side streets. Please be considerate of residents and do not block driveways and observe all parking rules and regulations. Note that there will be no ticketing by the Carmel police department until after 11:00 am!

• We do not provide transportation back to Sunset Center from the finish area. It’s about a half mile uphill walk. Some have found it helpful to park in the neighborhoods between the start and finish.

• After the completion of your event, water, refreshments and your free raffle ticket await you at the Finish Celebration in Del Mar Parking Lot at the base of Ocean Avenue. We have amazing raffle prizes! Each one is valued over $50.

• The raffle and awards ceremony will begin at approximately 9:15 and ends by 10:45 am.

• The parking lot will reopen for public use at 11:30 am.

• Take a look at this year’s tribute book online. It is quite moving and it is not too late to send a submission.
